Llevo unos días escuchando esta exuberante, sexy y fresca canción.

Bonobo acaba de sacar un disco de remezclas de su gran último disco "Black sands", del cual podemos escuchar un minimix en Soundcloud.

Mi primera atracción es este "The keeper" remezclado por Banks, para disfrutar -al menos- en pareja.

Django Django - Hail Bop

"Hail bop" será el próximo single de Django Django. Sino lo es, será el siguiente, no tengo dudas. Y tranquilos, si no os gustó "Default" - yo tampoco soporto esos juegos de voces-, dadle una oportunidad a esta canción.

Porque no creo que sea cosa el azar, colocar la que para mí es la mejor canción de su disco homónimo de debut, en la icónica pista nº 2. Sí.. es verdad.. en realidad es la primera canción si no contamos la pequeña intro... ¡Da igual!

El disco aparecía a finales del pasado mes en Because Music, el sello francés que también tiene en su nómina a Metronomy, con los que ya han sido comparados.

"Hail bop" will be Django Django's next single. If it is not, it will the following one, I'm sure! If you didn't like "Default" - I can't stand those voices either-, give it a try. Because I don't think it's just a random thing to set this song on the "number 2" track, although...well it's true, actually it is the first song it we don't consider that little intro.. Whatever!

The album dropped last month via Because Music, the French label house of Metronomy, to whom they have already been compared.

Portico Quartet - Spinner

Atípico tema para un viernes: cuando todos estamos esperando fiesta, baile y demás, llega algo así.

Mientras estaba acabando mi trabajo, escuchaba por segunda vez el nuevo trabajo de Portico Quartet. Uno de esos discos perfectos para trabajar, que muchas veces acaban, prácticamente desapercibidos y otras te quedas con detalles, como ese teclado que aparece en 3:11". Y te dices, sí, ésta es la mía.

Después de cancelar la actuación del último festival BAM, Portico Quartet estarán en concierto en Barcelona en la [2] de Apolo el próximo jueves 23 de febrero.

One of those perfect albums to listen when you work. Many times they end up unnoticed, sometimes you catch some details, like this keyobard that starts at 3:11"". Portico Quartet will playing La[2] in Barcelona next February 23 after they canceled their show last year in BAM festival.

Sonar 2012

Esta mañana se confirmaban por fin los primeros artistas (el 60% del cartel, dicen) del Sonar de este año. ¡Y menuda lista de grupos!

La verdad es que en un primer momento se me ha hecho difícil digerirlo, así que he necesitado un tiempo para asimilar lo que se nos viene encima del 14 al 16 de junio...

Para empezar el tridente electropop formado por Metronomy, Hot Chip y Friendly Fires. Los primeros, me los perdí el año pasado al estar en Razzmatazz en un concierto contraprogramado el mismo fin de semana del festival. Algo parecido me pasó con Friendly Fires, que según me comentaron fue un conciertazo. Hot Chip, por su parte, están a punto de sacar nuevo disco, mientras, para hacer boca, podemos escuchar el debut de The 2 Bears con Joe Goddard, que salió el mes pasado.

E~~l borracho de~~ Fatboy Slim estará también por 1ª vez (!?) en el Sonar. Quiero pensar que es una causa perdida. No me voy a hacer ilusiones por mucho que significara en su momento, casi 15 años hace ya de eso. La ocasión perdida, claramente, fue en el 2000 en La Paloma, cuando el Bongo Lounge era la fiesta referencia de los jueves en Barcelona con la que soñaba ir y yo todavía era menor de edad. Lo del Wintercase, dos años después, -cancelado por un cólico- roza el esperpento.

Otro caso nostálgico es el de Jacques Lu Cont a.k.a. Thin White Duke a.k.a Stuart Price, miembro de Les Rhytmes Digitales y Zoot Woman, que además produjo trabajos a New Order, Madonna o The Killers... ¡Demasiado curriculum para el 2012, chaval! Ahora ha vuelto en solitario con 2 temas "Reload" y "Church", que ciertamente si hubieran salido hace 4 años nos estaríamos frotando las manos u otra cosa... Este próximo sábado estará también en The Loft y al contrario que Norman Cook no le guardo rencor alguno, con lo que lo apunto en la casilla de posible, consciente que puede ser arriesgado.

Volviendo al presente, por afinidad sonora, John Talabot y Azari & III -una fiesta en directo- deberían estar también en mi lista de imperdibles.

El barcelonés justo se sacó de la manga "fIN" (Hivern) que estoy escuchando de principio a fin por primera vez mientras escribo estas líneas y que me está causando una grata impresión; se aleja un poco de las anteriores producciones que se me hacían un tanto repetitivas. Como es habitual, cuenta también con el favor de la crítica.

A priori pues, éstas son mis opciones de "los grandes", a falta de confirmar el ¡40%! del cartel del Sonar que se completa así:

Ya se puede escuchar el nuevo disco de Errors "Have some faith in magic".
En cola lo tenía desde varios días, casi perdido, este nuevo disco que aunque está bastante bien, le echo en falta un hitazo tipo "Supertribe". Lo más cercano es este "Magna Encarta", que parece ser salió ya como single el pasado año.

¡El nuevo single de Allo Darlin' está a punto de caer!
Febrero es el mes en que saldrá "Capricornia" adelanto de su nuevo disco "Europe" para el que deberemos esperar hasta la primavera para poder escucharlo.

Gran canción, que la misma cantante afirma ser lo más parecido en el disco a un cruce entre A New England de Kirsty MacColl y (el clásico) Cattle and Cane de The Go-Betweens. Justamente el sonido que buscaban para el album:

New single by Allo Darlin' is about to be out! February is the month that "Capricornia" will be out. For the album of the anticipitated single will have to wait until spring.

A great song, that the very singer admits it is the closest song in the album to be between 'A New England' by Kirsty MacColl and (the classic) Cattle and Cane by The Go-Betweens. Just the sound they aimed to get for the disc.

¡Daros prisa! Sólo durante 7 días podréis escuchar este fidedigno retrato de nuestro país de (temporal) adopción, enfocado, sobre todo, en la música.

Escuchando el reportaje de BBC6 sobre Suecia "Viva Sweden" me he sentido totalmente identificado. Para los que alguna vez me habéis oído hablar del país escandinavo - o mejor dicho de Estocolmo- podréis comprobar que a) no exageraba en absoluto sobre la importancia de las estaciones y la luz y como afectan al día a día, y b) que mi obsesión por su cultura musical no es casualidad.

"Viva Sweden" hace una especial énfasis en Estocolmo. El sólo hecho de oír lugares que pisábamos a menudo, me ha hecho poner la piel de gallina y a la vez me han dado unas ganas tremendas de volver. Sí, me apuntan al corazón, a la música, pero sé también que la mayoría tampoco estaréis y vosotros fuisteis una parte muy importante, sino fue la mejor, de aquella experiencia.

Volviendo al reportaje, sólo una pega: eché de menos alguna referencia a la llamada "West Coast" (The Tough Alliance, Studio, Air France, Jens Lekman, Håkan Hellström...) y algo más de electrónica. No olvidemos The Knife, The Field, Slagsmålsklubben o Drop Out Orchestra también son parte importante del país de las rubias.

For those you've heard me talking about the Escandinavian country - or rather, Stockholm- you can check out now that a) I wasn't exagerating about how important are the seasons and light and how they affect people's life and b) my obsession for their musical culture isn't just a random thing.

"Viva Sweden" makes a special emphasis in Stockholm. Just hearing the name of those places we used to hang out, I get goose bumps as yet they give me an overwhelming desire to return. Yes, it just aims straight to my heart, music, but I also know that most of you won't be there and you were a very important part, or the best, of that experience.

Returning to the report, only one miss: although Gothemburg is present, there was not a single reference to the "West Coast" leaders Håkan Hellström, The Tough Alliance, Studio, Air France, Jens Lekman... Either electronic acts such as The Knife, The Field, Drop Out Orchestra or Slagsmålsklubben, also an important part on the country of blondes.

¿El sonido del momento?
Sería imposible categorizar en un sólo estilo el nuevo single de Porcelain Raft. Tiene un poco de prácticamente todo lo que hemos estado escuchando en los últimos meses o años díria yo, y quizá por eso he necesitado varias escuchas para poder determinar si era sólo eso, más de lo mismo o simplemente el sonido del momento.

He decidido al final que no me voy a mojar, eso sí, me gusta. Kairi dice "tengo resaca y esta canción lo cura todo".

Su disco "Strange weekend" salió hace un par de días y lo puedes escuchar justo aquí debajo del vídeo.

It would be impossible to categorize Porcelain Raft's new single using just one style. It's got almost everything we've been listening to these last months or even years. And maybe that's why I needed to listen to "Unless you sleep from your heart" several times before I've decided if it was just the same old, same old, or just the sound of the moment.

Finally I'm giving up on this, but I like it. Kairi says "I have hangover and that song cures it all". His debut album "Strange Weekend is just out and you can listen fully above.

Ayer me pasé toda la mañana en la web de Radio Soulwax escuchando canciones brasileñas, mash-ups infinitos de versiones y otras lindezas! ¡Y cómo disfruté!
Pues resulta que esta noche el dúo belga estará en el salón de moda The Brandery, junto con el dj Undo y Dorian. Las entradas ya están agotadas, pero por suerte conseguí un par de ellas en un concurso de Estrella Damm!

No sé cuantas veces ya he visto a 2manydjs. Cada sesión, ha sido una verdadera fiesta, pero que lamentablemente parece cada vez más difícil superar el listón de la anterior. Sin embargo, hay motivos para creer en los reyes del mash-up: ésta es una ocasión especial, fuera de un club y en un horario light (23-1h). Perfecta para explotar su faceta más clásica, la de sus inicios, o sin ir más lejos a lo que podemos escuchar en la web que os comentaba antes: eclecticismo, temazos y diversión a raudales...

Yesterday I spent my morning listening brazillian tunes, neverending mash-ups of covers and many other beauties at Radio Soulwax! So f***** fun!

It turns out that the Belgian duo will be playing at The Brandery fashion show in Barcelona tonight, along dj Undo and Dorian. Tickets are sold out but I was lucky to find a couple of them in a draw of Estrella Damm!

I don't know how many times I've seen 2manydjs. Every set has been a real party! Unfortunately every time has been more difficult to beat the one before. However, there are reasons to believe in the kings of mash-up: this is a special occasion, out of a club and at a very early time (23-1h). A perfect time to take advantage of their most classic side, like on the aforementioned website: eclecticism, tunes and lots of fun...

SOLD OUT. Poco ha durado en el stock de Young Turks el tercer rework (re-editado) de Jamie xx a Radiohead que salió a la venta este lunes.

Se han empezado a filtrar canciones del nuevo disco de Tennis, "Young & Old", uno de los más esperados de 2012.

A finales del año pasado la banda sacaba el grandioso single "Origins" -8ª en mi top de mejores canciones de 2011- si a eso le unimos que el productor es Patrick Carney de The Black Keys y sale por el no menos grande sello Fat Possum, no es raro que mis expectativas sean altísimas...

Por ahora me quedo con "Traveling", una de las canciones más animadas. Puedes pedirlo ya por adelantado aquí.

The new album by Tennis, the awaited "Young & Old" has already leaked! At the end of the last year the band released the great single "Origins" - that made the 8th spot on my top of the best songs of 2011- and my expectatives were really high: it's also produced by The Black Keys' Patrick Carney and it's released via Fat Possum.... so you can understand why.

Esta mediodía ha sonado en HAO lo nuevo de Bosco Delrey... supongo!
Como casi cada sábado a la mediodía me ha pillado durmiendo (o sin ganas de escuchar nada). Ayer tuve una gran sesión en Becool con Indiespot dj's -que repetiremos en febrero- con lo que el descanso era merecido.

Pero por suerte tenemos el blog de HAO para poder escuchar la versión offline de sus programas de radio anteriores. Desde propuestas locales, novedades y algún clásico, enfocadas en el indie, garage y el sonido lo-fi. ¡Os lo recomiendo!

De Bosco Delrey había perdido un poco la pista... Este ritmo frenético de la era Internet tiene esto, así que aprovechemos estos reencuentros. "Baby's got a blue flame" abre el disco aparecido el pasado mayo y que desde ya está en mi cola:

New Bosco Delrey was featured this afternoon in HAO... I guess. As every Saturday afternoon I was sleeping (or not really in the mood for listening). Yesterday I had a great dj set at Becool with Indiespot dj's -we'll do it again on February- so the rest was deserved.

Luckily we can listen "offline" to the previous radio programs in HAO's blog. You'll get from local bands to news and some classics focused on the indie, garage and the lo-fi sound. Recommended!

Echando un ojo a la discografía de los británicos, me doy cuenta que tenía una percepción equivocada en su elección de los singles. No sé porqué razón creía que habían sido singles algunos temas que nunca lo fueron y que consideraba "menores".

Cierto es que dentro de los álbums encontramos canciones a la misma altura, pero mirando a los 6 primeros sencillos no hay ninguno que sobre: "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor", "When the Sun Goes Down", "Leave Before the Lights Come On", ~~Brainstorm~~ "Brianstorm", "Fluorescent Adolescent" y "Teddy Picker" estarían en cualquier recopilación que hiciera de ellos.

A partir de ahí, el duro "Humbug", con el cambio de rumbo a la americana por Josh Homme y el principio del bajón comercial -en cuanto a singles-. Empezando por "Crying lightning", para mí, el mejor de sus últimos singles -y también el de más éxito- hasta llegar a este "Black treacle".

De su último disco "Suck it and see", es curioso que me quede con los temas más tranquilos. Así que aunque, puestos a poner pegas, hubiera preferido "That's where you're wrong", me gusta más que los dos anteriores sencillos. Eso sí esta claro, los dos primeros discos para pinchar, saltar, bailar... Los dos segundos para escuchar en casa.

Por cierto, Arctic Monkeys estarán en el Palau Sant Jordi el próximo 28 de enero con Miles Kane. Me lo estoy pensando...

Arctic Monkeys release their new video for "Black Treacle", wait... Black treacle? I realize while taking a look at the Brits discography that I had a wrong preception about their choice of their singles. I don't know why but I thought some non-remarkable songs had been singles and they were actually not.

Actually you can find a lot great tracks on their albums, but out of their 6 first singles, none of them shouldn't be dismissed: "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor", "When the Sun Goes Down", "Leave Before the Lights Come On",~~Brainstorm~~ "Brianstorm", "Fluorescent Adolescent" and "Teddy Picker" would be in any Monkeys' compilation of mine.

After that, the hard "Humbug", the new American direction by Josh Homme and the start of the commercial drop -only in singles-. Starting with "Crying Lightning", in my opinion, the best both the most succesful of their latest, until this one.

It is funny that I prefer the more paced tracks out of their latest album "Suck it and see". But if you ask me I would have picked "That's where you're wrong", although I prefer "Black Treacle" to their 2 latest singles. There is one thing for sure: the two first albums are for DJing, jumping, dancing... The other two are for listening at home.

By the way, Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane will be in Palau Sant Jordi next January 28. I'm thinking about it...

Antes de repasar todas estas listas retrospectivas deberíamos tomar un poco de aire y reflexionar. La música es algo muy personal y los criterios que rigen esas listas son muy diversos: desde originalidad a popularidad, de letras elaboradas a hits instantáneos...equilibrio y repetición de artistas (o no), inclusión/exclusión de guilty pleasures y singles publicados antes de 2011...

Es muy posible que no salgan tus canciones favoritas -tampoco salen muchas de las mías- o que no conozcas parte de ellas. No, no vivimos en un zulo. La mayoría de estas publicaciones cubren un abanico de géneros muy amplios. Aprendiz de todo, maestro de nada, dicen, ¿no?

One of the songs of the year that I had just forgotten to post. Luckily not only anger can be pulled out of those lists. Cruel?

Before taking a look to all of those best-of-lists, we should take a breathe and think about this: first of all, music is pretty personal, second, the criteria under those lists is really diverse: from originality to popularity, from well-crafted lyrics to straight hits... balance and (non) repetition of artists, omission/inclusion of guilty pleasures and singles released before 2011...

So it's quite probable that your favourite songs are not there - most of mine are not either - or just don't know some of them. No, we are not living out of the civilization. Most of these publications cover a broad list of genres. Jack of all trades, master of none, goes the saying.

Just enjoy the music!

Esta mañana me despertaba escuchando el primer disco de Ride. A la tarde el Festival Primavera Sound anuncia a Spiritualized en su cartel. Estamos en los 90.

Se ve, se siente. El revival 90s está aquí desde hace un tiempo. El fenómeno revival es digno de estudio y parece que se aplica a los 20 años después de que una corriente irrumpa. Hoy podemos ver a jóvenes imberbes en camisas de leñador, escuchar a nostálgicos desesperados porque My Bloody Valentine publiquen "Loveless" remasterizado, leer que grupos como Mazzy Star, Red Hot Chili Peppers o The Stone Roses se encuentran de gira o que reivindiquen el "Screamadelica" como We Are Standard en su nuevo EP.

Así que este sábado me hice mi propio viaje en el tiempo y puse el Peelplayer. Esta maravilla contiene casi todas las canciones de los "Festive Fifty", o sea los top50 de los oyentes del programa de John Peel en la BBC hasta su fallecimiento en 2004 y me coloqué en 1990: Pixies, Deee-Lite, The Orb, The Sundays, Dinosaur Jr, The Lemonheads, Ride, MBV... Grandes. Y quedé prendando al descubrir esta melodía. ¡Ah! pero.. ¿¿y esta guitarra?? suena igual que "Wild Thing"... Claro, era una versión de Spiritualized de un tema de The Troggs con un riff calcado...pero qué temazo!

I woke up this morning listening to Ride's first album. On the afternoon Primavera Sound Festival anounced Spiritualized as part of their line-up. We are on the 90s.

You can see it, you can feel it. The 90s revival is here for a while. Revivals are a funny case-study. It seems they got to happen 20 years after a trend pops up. Today we can see young lads on their woodcutter shirts, listen to desperate + nostalgic people waiting for My Bloody Valentine to edit "Loveless (remastered)", read about bands such Mazzy Star, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Stone Roses are on tour and others recalling "Screamadelica" like We Are Standard on their new EP.

So last Saturday I had my own trip on time by turning on the Peelplayer. This wonder has almost every song on the "Festive Fifty", the John Peel's BBC show's listeners top50s until his death in 2004 so I set myself up on 1990: Pixies, Deee-Lite, The Orb, The Sundays, Dinosaur Jr, The Lemonheads, Ride, MBV.. Great. And I got charmed by this melody...Oh! but... that guitar?? It sounds exactly the same as "Wild Thing"... Of course it was Spiritualized's cover of a tune by The Troggs containing the same riff ...what a tune!

Ok, primero de todo, antes de escuchar el nuevo tema de Tennis, olvida cualquier impresión anterior sobre ellos, sea buena o mala.

A veces va bien escuchar algo sin saber qué es (por ejemplo por radio o podcast). El álbum de debut del dúo que recuperaba el sonido retro chicletoso, despertó muchas pasiones, a la vez que formó parte de uno de esos grandes trabajos incomprendidos ~~del pasado~~ de este año por mi humilde oído.

"Origins" es el primer adelanto de su nuevo disco que aparecerá en febrero en Fat Possum Records y que nos muestra una evolución hacia un sonido más accesible y atemporal. Esta, sí.

Ok, first of all, forget any reference you got either good or bad about Tennis, before listening to their new track. Sometimes it's good to listen to something without knowing beforehand what you're going to listen (e.g. via radio station or a podcast).

The duo's debut album took back the retro bubblegum sound, and at the same time that it received many praises, got to become one of those great misunderstood works of ~~the last~~ this year for my humble ear.

El nuevo disco de M83 "Hurry up, we're dreaming" ha caído como un bombazo, para mí al menos inesperado, en medio de este mes de octubre que se nos va.

Midnight City, el primer adelanto, salía a principios del pasado verano y parecía alcanzar la categoría de "hit" ante mi indiferencia. Realmente no sé qué tiene la canción de marras para que haya enganchado tanto, ¡explicádmelo por favor!. No le encuentro nada especial y además me parece estridente. Vale que con el tiempo me hecho más tolerante con sonidos menos tradicionales, menos pop, pero esta no pasa mi filtro, lo siento.

Así que me disponía a escuchar el disco con cierto escepticismo y curiosidad al comprobar que estaba entre los discos más escuchados de (sí, todavía existe) last.fm. Afortunadamente, para mí, se aleja un poco de esa parte que tan poco me gustaba y en, ni más ni menos, que 22 canciones el productor francés explora desde la electrónica al shoegaze. Una perla:

M83 - Raconte moi une histoire

M83's new album "Hurry up, we're dreaming"'s been such a bomb, unexpectedly at least for me, in the middle of this October that is close to the end. Midnight City, first preview, came out last summer and seemed to become a "hit" despite my indifference. I just don't get why, please tell me!. I don't find anything special in it plus I think it's shrill. Alright, it's true that I've become more tolerant with quirky sounds, less pop, but this one doesn't get me into, I'm sorry.

So I decided to listen to the album with a bit of skepticism and curiosity just after checking out that it was one of the most listened records on (yes, it's still alive) last.fm. Luckily, for me, it goes a bit far from that part that I didn't like and the French producer explores in, no more no less than 22 tracks, from electronic to shoegaze. One gem (just above).

The Sonics + Yellow Yesterday

Por una de esas casualidades de la vida encontré algo que realmente valía la pena en las últimas noticias de Facebook... ¿The Sonics estarán en Barcelona el 29 de noviembre?
Rápidamente fui a confirmar la hora de inicio (19h?¿) a la web de La [2] Apolo, pero todavía no lo han colgado allí, así que tendremos que esperar... pero es bastante posible que sea a esa hora, ya que a las 21h hay otro concierto... Parece que estarán por Barakaldo por esas fechas, aunque todavía en su web aparezca Barcelona (?).

Ahora la cuestión es: un grupo de los 60 en el 2011... ¿Dinosaurios haciendo covers venidas a menos o maestros dando lecciones sobre el escenario?. Pues la respuesta parece ser la segunda! Por lo que he podido ver en los videos, algunos de ellos del Primavera Sound 2008 (por esas fechas estaba viviendo mi sueño sueco en Estolcomo), continúan siendo (casi) tan grandes, así que no me lo perderé (en caso que vengan)! Vamos vamos!!

I went straight to check out the time (17h?¿) to La [2] de Apolo website, but it says nothing yet, so we'll have to wait for it... but it's quite probable that it's that at time, because there's another gig from 21h.

Now the question is: a 60s band in 2011... Dinosaurs making rusty covers or masters giving lessons on stage? Seems to be the latter! From what I've seen on the videos some in Primavera Sound 2008 (I was living my Swedish dream at the time), they are still (almost) so great as they were, so I won't miss them! Come on, let's go!

Primero de todo, disculpad la falta de posts en las últimas semanas, pero llevo dos semanas con otitis y he tenido que desconectar un poco...

¡Pero ya estoy de vuelta! Me hubiera gustado algo un poquito más ~~in your face rockero~~ duro, pero este tema de Florence + The Machine es irresistible, épico, incluso la voz suena más natural, no tan forzada como en algunos momentos encontré en su anterior trabajo.

El nuevo álbum "Ceremonials" que sale para Halloween (10 días que quedan ya), está recibiendo muy buenos comentarios de los afortunados que han podido escucharlo. First of all, my apologies for the lack of posting. I've had otitis these last two weeks so I had to log off a bit for a while... but now I'm back!

I'd liked something ~~more in your face rocky~~ stronger but this new tune by Florence + The Machine is simply irresistible, epic, even Florence's voice sounds more natural, not trying too much like I felt she did sometimes in her last work.

[Modo Nostalgia: ON] Durante aquellos meses en Estocolmo ~~aprendimos~~ descubrimos muchas cosas. Una de ellas, este señor es profeta en su tierra.

El crooner sueco era uno de esos must en las sesiones indie de la "Venecia del Norte". Y eso que Jens Lekman proviene del otro lado, de la West Coast - Angered, Göteborg para ser más exactos -, amparado en el sello Service, sí, el de los capos (y profetas) Studio, The Tough Alliance o The Embassy.

"An argument with myself" es su nuevo EP tras 4 años y ahí encontramos este temazo:

Esta mañana salía a la luz el nuevo disco de Real Estate en streaming.

Si todavía no has escuchado la canción no oficial de este verano, "It's Real" - que también la encontrarás en mi última mixtape - ¡ya estás tardando!. En npr puedes escuchar además de ésta, las canciones que conforman su nuevo disco.

De primeras, no puedo decir que haya encontrado ningún tema que me enganche tanto como lo hizo en su momento el susodicho tema, pero os aconsejo echarle un vistazo al menos a la instrumental "Kinder Blumen" o "Green aisles", la otra favorita de la blogosfera. ¿Crecerá? El tiempo dirá.

Por cierto, estarán en la sala KGB de Barcelona el próximo 30 de noviembre.

New Real Estate album just came out this morning in streaming. If you still haven't listened to the not-official song of the summer, "It's Real" - which was also on my latest mixtape - you are late!. You can still listen to it as well with the rest of the tracks at npr.

At first sight I didn't find anything so catchy as the mentioned song, but I suggest you to check out at least the instrumental "Kinder Blumen" or the blogosphere favourite "Green aisles". Will it grow? Time will tell.

Pues ya lo dice, la canción: paalantee hombre!
No os quedéis parados, bueno será difícil después de escuchar al delicado Steve. Este hombre orquesta se hace valer de sus instrumentos para crear elaboradas melodías que recuerdan tanto al blues añejo, como al post-rock o la electrónica más épica. Al estilo ecléctico de Luaka Bop.

Desde Gold Coast, Australia llega este cuarteto de rockeros, que se han convertido en una de las peticiones más solicitadas en la emisora Triple J con esta "Cities of the red night".

Los remixers del momento lo vuelven a hacer... Electro-alérgicos, no huyan, vale la pena ;)

No es un remix clásico al uso del colectivo de remixers RAC. O si. El tempo lánguido inicial nos engaña pues el tema empieza a adquirir fuerza una vez entra ese punteo de guitarra (¿alguien dijo Ratatat?) que combinado a ese sucio sinte de 5 notas y unos épicos violines en la parte final del tema, crean una atmósfera extrañamente confortable:

This is not a classic RAC remix. Or maybe it is. The languid tempo at the beginning is just playing with us. The tune builds up once that guitar pluck (Ratatat, anyone?) blends to that dirty 5-note synth and those epic violins at the end of the track, creating an strangely comfortable atmosphere.

Oh! And THAT voice? Lacrymosa is a 20 years old girl that's been already compared to Regina Spektor or Joana Newsom. You've got their debut album available on streaming on her official site. Chamber pop to build personal soundtracks.

Bueno no os preocupéis, que tampoco estamos tan mal...

Esta mediodía me topaba con el último disco de Ezra Furman and the Harpoons gracias a un podcast que descubría ayer revolviendo en Mixcloud y la verdad que me ha causado una grata impresión.

A veces pasa que llega ese disco en el momento indicado y hoy creo que lo ha sido. Justo venía de escuchar el primero de Camper Van Beethoven cuando una voz familiar empezó a sonar. La misma voz de "Take of your sunglasses" y "We want to fight" - que os incluía en mi EM 21 del pasado año.

Por cierto que Indiespot inaugura su propio ciclo de conciertos trayéndolos a Barcelona! Uf! ¡Y como suenan en directo!

Don't worry lads I'm doing fine... This noon I stumbled across the latest Ezra Furman and the Harpoons' album via this podcast that I discovered yesterday on Mixcloud and it's giving me such a great vibe.

Sometimes it turns out that the right album comes in the right moment and that was just today. I was listening to first Camper Van Beethoven's when a familiar voice just started singing. It was the same voice from "Take of your sunglasses" and "We want to fight" - that I already included on my EM 21 last year.

By the way! Indiespot is bringing them to Barcelona on the first concert they are featuring. Wow! And look how it sounds!

La semana pasada Stereogum nombraba a las 40 mejores nuevas bandas del 2011 entre las que encontramos Big Troubles.

40 quizá es un número excesivo, pero no podemos negar que hay de todo y para tod@s y que posiblemente la mitad de la lista os suene a chino; he de reconocer que tampoco conocía a muchos de los grupos y en parte me decepcionó, pero... tampoco es que la cosecha de este año sea para tirar cohetes...

De los que sí ya hemos podido disfrutar por aquí tenemos a Iceage, Lana Del Rey y Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Y otros que se quedaron sin aparecer por una razón u otra son Purity Ring, Weekend, Youth Lagoon o Elite Gymnastics.

Deberes para esta semana: escuchar el disco de Dominant Legs.
Parece que este año lo que se lleva es el streaming temporal. ¡Pues bienvenido sea! Una semanita nos dan Dominant Legs para probar gratis "Invitation" su primer larga duración en Hype machine.

De él conocíamos esta bonita canción "Hoops of love" y que uno de sus componentes, Ryan Williams, tocaba la guitarra en Girls. ¡A mover el flequillo!

Hace un par de semanas salía esta versión instrumental en el youtube del sello Italians do it better. Buscando un poco sobre el tema encontré por algún lugar que ya había salido en el 2009. Al parecer tan sólo eran versiones en directo del tema que saldrá en su nuevo disco "Body work". ¡Disfruten!

***ACTUALIZADO Tras varias escuchas, quizá parte de su grandeza resida en que recuerda al inmenso Beautiful life de Gui Boratto.

Wow.. I'm really busy at work.. so I'll go a little back now. A couple of weeks ago this instrumental version was released in Italians do it better's Youtube channel. Diggin' a little bit I found out this came out back in 2009. Actually it was just a live performance, and this is a promo of the new album "Body work".

¿Ha muerto DJ Mehdi? Si :( Corría como la pólvora esta mañana en Facebook y Twitter que el productor y DJ francés ha fallecido a falta de una confirmación oficial que llegó esta tarde por parte de Ed Banger/Because Music.

Y es que hoy justamente es martes 13 de septiembre. Hace 15 años también fallecía (o no) 2Pac. ~~En Wikipedia hace un momento tan pronto se confirmaba su muerte, como no... Habrá que esperar si es sólo un bulo de mal gusto u~~ otra triste noticia.
